About the Course

"A Graphic Designer is a creative problem solver who is trained to conceive, plan, and execute a design that communicates a direct message in an imaginative and visually arresting manner to an intended audience regardless of the medium. Effective visual communication requires a Graphic Designer to inform and motivate a viewer."


Graphic Arts and Design 2 is a continuation of Introduction to Graphic Arts and Design. Students continue to build their skills in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator CS6, as well as start to learn the fundamentals of Adobe InDesign CS6. With each project, students continue to to incorporate the Elements and Principles of Design as a nature part of their vocabulary and start to understand the Art of Typography more indepth.


Each project is presented to the class for an extensive critique from their classmates, and the presentation styles are expected to be more business-like in manner. Upon completion of the course, students will start to build a more advanced portfolio appropriate for college applications for the Design fields such as 2D or 3D Design, Animation, Graphic Design, Interactive Media, Video Game Design, etc.
